Bio:

Jessica, the Founder/Owner of Empowered Forward, is an experienced Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and Licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor through Mental Health First Aid Australia. With experience in Midwifery, Mental Health Nursing, General Nursing, Neonatal Nursing and Community Nursing; she has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

As a strong mental health advocate, Jessica is passionate about the delivery of Mental Health First Aid courses in both community and workplace settings; and is available to provide Mental Health First Aid training to public groups, and private groups in Cairns QLD Australia; and Australia wide upon request.

In clinical and non-clinical settings, Jessica has worked with and cared for many people who are experiencing a mental health problem or who have been diagnosed with a mental illness. 

In that time, Jessica has identified and maintains that Mental Health First Aid courses help to reduce stigma surrounding mental health, whilst also equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a person who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis at any given time, in any setting.

Education Experience:

Highly skilled in clinical and professional education delivery, by means of educational presentations, courses and short education sessions; Jessica has been, and continues to be a competent and sought after educator, presenter and facilitator. She has experience that spans over many years, regularly presenting to individuals and groups of varying sizes within community, professional, corporate and executive settings.

Clinical Experience: 

Jessica has experience in direct patient clinical care, health education and promotion, health management, healthcare leadership committees, preceptorship, and statewide and national health policy & guideline development and implementation.

Recognition: 

Jessica has received a Healthcare Innovation Award in 2019, and has been nominated as Midwife of the Year in both 2020 and 2022.
